Violaine embrasse un homme et devient lépreuse. Un baiser, un seul baiser et la lèpre est transmise. Terrible cadeau de l'amour. . . Or, tandis que son corps va pourissant, son âme, elle, s'élève... Car au fond de l'abîme dans lequel nous plonge la passion amoureuse, la notion de 1'infini ne scintille-t-elle pas? Voilà le désir qui ronge, et le doute: et si Dieu n'existait pas? Et si tout cela, aimer, mourir, ne servait à rien? Et si c'était cela, vivre?

L'Annonce faite à Marie par Alice Ronfard: un spectacle de la foi et de l'effroi, spectacle de l'amour qui transforme l'âme et le corps.

Violaine kisses a man and becomes a leper. One kiss, a single kiss, and she catches leprosy. A terrible gift of love. Yet while her body rots away, her soul soars . . . For at the bottom of the abyss into which the passion of love plunges us, is there not the sparkling of the notion of the infinite? There is the gnawing desire, and the doubt: what if God did not exist? And if there were no point to loving, dying? And if that was all there was to life, to living?
