Doctor Faustus Lights the Lights Comme point de départ : une rime. Les autres vont bientôt débouler en avalanche dans la rencontre de deux vocabulaires excentriques ceux de Gertrude Stein et Robert Wilson. Deux adversaires de la logique et de l'interprétation. Sur la musique du texte, la pièce était d'abord un opéra, le metteur en scène américain a déployé son théâtre visuel. Pour décupler la résistance, il a choisi de travailler en anglais avec des comédiens allemands. Une certaine étrangeté s'installe alors au coeur de mots trop familiers. De toute manière, ici tout le corps parle. Faustus a-t-il vendu son âme au diable inutilement ? Le mythe est revu à l'intérieur de tableaux à l'humour insolite. On retrouve les images fortes de Wilson, dans un style sans bavure. Faustus, Stein et Wilson : un courant infernal !
