POPOL VUH GRAN CIRCO TEATRO Poème magnifique et ancien, le Popol Vuh réécrit l'histoire de l'univers dans le creuset de la civilisation quichée. Aux origines de ce monde, l'homme, après plusieurs tentatives infructueuses, fut finalement créé de maïs ! Du Gran Circo Teatro, on connaissait déjà La Negra Ester, présentée au Festival de théâtre des Amériques en 1989. La troupe chilienne qui s'intéresse à l'histoire populaire des dieux et des hommes de l'Amérique latine, revient cette fois-ci nous raconter les aventures de deux jeunes demi-dieux : Hunaphu et Ixbalaque. Le Popol Vuh ou l'invitation à participer à une fête extérieure dans une atmosphère carnavalesque.

In Popol Vuh, Andres Perez Araya has perfected a most unique style of allegory: winged creatures, humans and costumed demigods perform a series of ritual dances evoking the sacred myths from the Mayan book of creation.
